User Protocol Selector
for
RemoteAccess 2.0x
by
Marco Miltenburg, 2:512/64@fidonet
WHAT IS IT
══════════──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
PROTOCOL allows you to set the default upload and download protocol for
a BBS user. RemoteAccess 2.0x defaults to '@' which isn't a valid
character. Because of this, RemoteAccess doesn't allow the user to tag
more than one file before it has selected it's default protocol. With
PROTOCOL you can set any other default protocol.
USAGE
═════───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
Usage of PROTOCOL is very simple :
PROTOCOL <C>
where <C> is a single character indicating the protocol to be used. To
set Zmodem as a default protocol, you could use :
PROTOCOL Z
The protocol character is case-sensitive. I've done this, because RAMGR
also handles it case-sensitive. Don't know about RemoteAccess itself.
INSTALLATION
════════════────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
PROTOCOL can be executed from your TOP.MNU as an option which is only
available for new users. This can be accomplished by security level or
flag settings. It's all up to you. Swapping RemoteAccess out of memory
is normaly not necessary, because PROTOCOL doesn't require much memory.
Note that you CAN'T execute PROTOCOL from the new user questionaire,
NEWUSER1.A?? or NEWUSER2.A?? because RemoteAccess won't create an
EXITINFO.BBS at this point. It can be used however, at any place after
WELCOME.ANS has been displayed.
PROTOCOL is full multi-line aware. It looks for EXITINFO.BBS in the
current directory. This is the RemoteAccess system directory for single-
line systems and the line-directory for multi-line systems.
